The issue of lack of self-confidence has stopped a lot of dreams right on their tracks. Most people focus on what other people think before they accept their personal opinions.

From my personal experience, I’ve realized that self-confidence is not something that can be built in a day. While you can definitely feel super duper confident and bask in the realm of a billion bucks for a day, that alone can fade off the next day.

Do you have a friend that is always putting you down? Does constructive criticism pull you down? Do you always accept destructive criticism from every Jack, Mandy and Mary?

Well, it all boils down to the way we think about ourselves as well as others. Sometimes, people let themselves to be bitten by the venom of negative self talk, thoughts and opinions. All those negative and inner critic voices creeps into our self-confidence, esteem, work and life in general. Self-confidence can be quite fragile but it’s definitely possible to work towards attaining it. How do we achieve this?

While there are several ways to boost self-confidence, I’ll be sharing 9 ways that will help you.

How to Get Work Done When You Don’t Feel Motivated

how-to-stay-motivated-busy-productive-1-motivation

Let’s face it. Sometimes we feel completely unmotivated to get even the smallest projects done. Procrastination is a key hindrance to lack of motivation and putting our dreams off. I mean, even superman still has those days when he doesn’t feel like saving the world, right? When I started on the path of building my business, there were some days that just felt off and I found myself making excuses or chilling through my work by doing nothing. In fact, it’s a common problem, especially if you don’t have a boss waiting for a project with a deadline attached to it.

However, I’ve learnt to get a lot more work done and stay focused while doing it. The more focused I am, the more I produce even better work. While writing this post, my phone is off and there’s really no distraction besides the generator from my neighbors’ house (lol).

Anyways, I’ve got you covered with these tips that could help you both as an individual, student, career person or entrepreneur.

What does prayer mean to you? Is it more of a time for meditation or communication between you and God?

I just finished reading a book called- The Seven Spirits of God: Divine Secrets to the Miraculous by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome. It basically talks about the seven spirits of God as written in the Isaiah.

And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;” (Isaiah 11:2)

My Story: Broken, Shaken but Still Standing

ELIZABETH LAIZA KING

Life has been a great learning curve for me. From living with low-self esteem, feeling like I couldn’t achieve anything great in life, living with nothing, to NOW creating a new life for myself and understanding that life should be lived with love, purpose and  giving.

Right now, I can sincerely say that I’ve found my place (and still seeking) in life and it feels great to be walking and living in God’s purpose for my life. While far from perfect, I’m definitely not where I used to be. The life I lived during my old path was full of thorns and thistles; it was an uneasy path. I was arrested by fear, cuffed and incarcerated by the chains of negativity. I know what is means to merely exist and not live, to just be a statistic, or probably not really different from the existence of the piece of furniture in your room.

Have you ever felt stuck or lost? Have you ever been at the centre of despair? A place where all your experiences are working against the grain of your dream, and your desire is getting tired; so tired that frustration is leading you to rest, on the bed of suicide. Can you relate to this?

Maybe you’ve never had to go through the eye of a needle, but no matter the level of challenges you face, or had to face, deep down within you know there is something more than your situation. There’s a feeling of bliss within that is yet too far for your faith to reach. You just want to touch it! Right in the middle of your struggle you still smell something good. Have you ever felt this way? I just heard you say, “hmmm”, so my guess was right. We are family, related by our experiences.
I had an undeniable knowing of greatness within, but many times it felt like the light at the end of the tunnel was still 1,000 miles ahead.

How I Create an Inspiring Morning Routine

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning? Check your BBM or Whatsapp messages? Facebook? Email? Twitter? Instagram? Or do you jump right out of bed and start working? Maybe you’re one of those that snooze their alarm clocks up to three times and sluggishly roll over for 30 more minutes before standing up. Sound familiar? I know we’ve all been there at some point.

About three years ago, I started creating an intentional inspiring morning routine and decided that it needed to be motivating, focused, refreshing and generally help me manage my time very well. I’ve gotten to the point where I appreciate all 24 hours of my day and I don’t want to spend it on frivolous things or habits. At the same time, I avoid having to rush out without fulfilling some very important aspects of my life such as my meditation time.

Creating an effective and inspiring morning routine has been one of the most beneficial aspects of my life. It has become so important to me and have allowed me to put on an extra go-getter attitude and move right into executing efficiently and effectively.

Who said it was easy? Far from it!
